THE MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE EARTH
WHAT IS THE EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD ?
The magnetic field of Earth is a magnetic dipole, with one pole at the North Pole known as the Magnetic North Pole and the other near at the South Pole known as the Magnetic South Pole. The field of earth is similar to that of a bar magnet. The molten iron within the inner core of the earth is the cause of the Earth’s magnetic field along with the overall planetary rotation, which causes these “electric currents” in rolls aligned along the North-South polar axis.
HOW DOES THE EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD AFFECT LIVING THINGS ?
It has been always known by human that birds have a direction sense. The birds migrate with season as far as 10 thousand miles and do not forget their way back home. The birds have a sensor that gives them ability to sense the direction. Though it has not been proven with evidence, still it is believed that they are affected by Earth’s magnetic field.
It has been noted by marine scientists that turtles cover over 8000 miles across pacific. Their body tells them when they are off course, as if they have in-built GPS system.
In case of humans doctors and scientists have proven that there are muscular movements in body when exposed to certain type of magnetic fields. Also, psychiatrists have noticed a correlation between increased geomagnetic activity and increased suicide rates and clinical depression. The Scientific Explanation – “The most plausible explanation for the association between geomagnetic activity and depression and suicide is that geomagnetic storms can desynchronise circadian rhythms and melatonin production. The circadian regulatory system depends upon repeated environmental cues to [synchronise] internal clocks, and magnetic fields may be one of these environmental cues. Geomagnetic storms could disrupt body clocks, precipitating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and therefore increased suicide risk.” This is what Kelly Posner, a psychiatrist at Columbia University in the US, told the New Scientist.
HOW VAASTU TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE MAGNETIC FIELD OF EARTH ?
It surprises us that the ancient Indian sages thousands of years ago, knew about the effects of the Earth’s magnetic field on living and non living elements on earth and accordingly incorporated this in designing of structures. As per Vaastu Shastra, the Human Body is it self a magnet with the Head, corresponding to the North Pole. As like poles repel each other, and if we sleep with our head in North while sleeping, will cause tension, disturbed sleep and other related health problems. Hence, one should never sleep with the head in the North. Instead the bed should be in the East-West axis.
